Splitting, Dipping and Frying

I forgot how much work it was to have 3 elementary kids to take care of.  Wonder how I did it with 5.  Anyway that is why I have not been posting.  Then at night I swear I fall asleep as soon as they go to bed at 8.

On the weekends though my son, Cade, and son in law, Steve, are home.  They are great helps and I can leave the kids up to them.  Last weekend we had a great time.  Their friends came over on Saturday to meet me. Read on if you are wondering what my title means.Cade got a bunch of logs he has been trying to get cut up, split and stacked for the winter.

My boys have split tons of firewood in their life because that was the only heat we had when they were growing up.  They learned that if they stood a bunch up at a time and then just go from one to another it works great for them.  This is splitting.

Steve was going to fry a turkey, so he had to get the fryer ready.

As Sarah supervised or is she just playing on her phone.DSC_0556

Steve had to get the turkey ready next and put it in the fryer.

Willow and Meadow made slime as they watched.

We had an hour before the turkey was done, so Sarah went dipping blueberries in yogurt.

And so we have dipping.

Cade went back to the firewood.

While Steve kept frying.

Now this is what we call frying.

The turkey was so good.DSC_0580

We ended the day sitting around the campfire drinking a couple of beers.

  1. Y’all seem to have so much fun! I never thought about frying a turkey outside of Thanksgiving 😊 We really could do it more often! Did he inject them with creole butter first? Makes them so yummy!
