Last Saturday I went to an Iditarod Party that a friend of ours holds every year. He is one of the Trail Guards. They clean out an area for him by the trail. It is a great place to go and watch the dog sleds go by. I took tons of photos and it has taken me a week to get them processed.
The Iditarod is around a 1000 miles from Anchorage to Nome which happens every March in Alaska. You can find out more here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iditarod_Trail_Sled_Dog_Race#History
Keep reading to see my photos and learn more about the race.
The racers come from all over the world to compete. There were 52 racers this year and more women every year.
Some of us get so excited we can’t even stay on our feet.
After all the competitors have come by it is time to party, a little food and drink.
We even got our photo taken by the sign that our talented friend Kim made. That is her and her husband, Gary in the photo above.

If you want to keep up with the race, check it out here
Hope you enjoyed the photos. Let me know what you think and if you have ever been to the Iditarod.
Thanks for stopping by.
Great Photos!!
Thank you, Jen
Loved the photos, I noticed the doggies were wearing shoes, is that just for the parade, or the race as well?
The dogs wear the booties to protect their pads from the sharp ice and just wear and tear on their paws.
This looks like a whole lot of fun! thank you for sharing.
Thanks and it was tons of fun
