Universal Studios

Heather had planned our trip so well but this was something she didn’t plan.  She didn’t know that her big brother, Jared, had connections to Universal Studios.  She had always wanted to go to see Harry Potter land.  Jared has an older gentleman that lives with him who is the father of his best friend, Justin.  Justin’s Mom, Karen, is a witch at the Squeaky Cauldron and she got us free tickets.  Justin is also one of my adopted sons, so I really wanted to meet Karen.

We were supposed to just hang out at the hotel by the pool for the day while Dan went to car museum he had been wanting to visit.  He dropped the rest of us off at Universal Studios where we met up with Karen.

Karen didn’t get to stay with us long because she had things to do and has a hard time wearing the mask.  To say the least she hasn’t been able to work because of this.  It was really nice to get to spend a little time with her.  Her family think so highly of my oldest son, Jared, which makes me very proud.

3 Barons Renaissance Fair

In June of every year we have a Renaissance Fair here in Anchorage. We enjoy going and spending time with the family there. It is a cheap day out with the tickets $8 for adults and $5 for children which can be bought at the gate or online. It is also educational for adults and children.

David and I did hang out with the pirates a lot due to the fact that they were in the beer garden, besides being fun. There is a lot of singing and storytelling which leads to tons of laughter.

You will receive tokens that you use to vote on which of the Barons you prefer Red, Blue or Green. There are many different shows that you can watch from sword fighting to ….

How about learning about knights? This is very interesting.

Then there is always the throwing of tomatoes at the actors which is always fun. Well maybe not for the actors. To think they wait all year for these 2 weeks to get tomatoes thrown at them. It is a good laugh.

All these people work very hard to make these two weekends fun for everyone while learning something.

We also ran into a friend of ours playing her harp for tuppence.

Even our twin granddaughters had fun!

Now on the other hand our niece and great nephew seemed to have gotten into a little trouble.

After some bargaining we managed to get them released.

At the end of the day it is time to watch the parade of the 3 Barons.

If you would like to learn more about the fair check it out here:

After a fun day at the fair we all headed home.

I hope you enjoyed our fair.

Thanks for stopping by!

Day 4 of Our Road Trip

We left Leduc at 8:47 on a beautiful sunny day. By 9:15 we had driven 2057 miles on our trip so far.

Well we finally made it to Calgary where we could pick up our passports. Following the directions I wrote down we went the wrong way. We ended way outside of town. We then thought about going a different way and ended outside of town again. We then stopped and David asked directions. Yes my husband will ask directions. A nice customer got us directions on his phone. He told us we had to drive to the other side of town. After about an hour and a half of circling Calgary we found the Digital Mail which was also FedEx. We now have our passports. Thank you, Lord.

We decide to eat before we head out. We checked out a place called Tim Horton but it was just a fast food and since we are only eating one meal out a day we want something good.

Across the street we see a Fergus and Bix. We decide to eat there. We decide we deserve a beer, so we had a local brew. We ordered gumbo and a sandwich to share. We had keylime pie, which was the greenest one I had ever seen. It was good though and also came with raspberry sorbet.

David dumped 5 gallons of gas in the tank. We then stopped at the gas station and topped off. Away we went at 2:22pm on to Texas.

We arrived at the US border and got across with no problem at 6:03pm. It was great just drove up to the window and off we went.

We gassed up again in Great Falls at 7:46pm. We decided to keep going for awhile before we looked for a hotel.

What we didn’t realize was we were in the middle of ranch country which means miles of nothing. I was starting to think it will be sleeping in the car tonight. Then we came to the little town of Harlowton, Montana right where we changed highways. Right at that corner was the Corral Motel. We pulled into this old motel where David paid $58.85 for our room. It was very small but clean.

There was no wifi at the hotel, so I am writing this on my phone as we travel on. It is taking a while because I can’t type on this thing with my big fingers. Really have you watched how fast these kids can type.

Well thanks for stopping 👋

Every Exquisite Thing

Every Exquisite Thing (Ghosts of the Shadow Market #3)Every Exquisite Thing by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. It is just sucking me in again like her other books have. The books are talking about the Shadow Market. The trouble that goes on connected to it. It takes place any many different places and different time. The older shadow hunters are spoken about quite a bit, but the story is really about the young ones. They are all coming of age and go through a lot of the same things that their elders did at their age. I can’t wait to read the next one.
