Middle Child & Her Family Come to Visit

The middle child, Sarah, and her family decided to drive across country to visit from Gig Harbor, Washington.  I call her the middle child because all her life we heard about her being the middle child of 5 children.  We do give her a hard time about it. but she tried using it on her Dad and me.  Got to love the middle child!

They were going to come in the spring but Steve, son in law, wasn’t working right now.  He was waiting for his job to start up, so they came in February.  They were all here for my birthday which was great.

Little Bear, their dog, snuggled up with Meadow.

Willow is a normal child who thinks she is already a teenager.  Who in the old days we would have said can’t get her nose out of the book and now we say get them off their tablet.  I think I like the idea of their nose being in a book better.

Goodbye Animal Kingdom

It is getting close to the end of our trip.  One last day at Animal Kingdom.  I said before this is our favorite park.  We were hoping to ride the Banshee again but with it being a weekend the line was too long.  I guess it will be on our list next time we go.

Magic Kingdom Once Again

Well we headed for Magic Kingdom on the Monorail.

The girls loved riding the train.  It was really nice having the whole couch to ourselves.

We got into the park in time for the opening show.  I think the characters are the girls favorite thing.

A Covid-19 Mother’s Day

How did you celebrate your Covid-19 Mother’s Day? Here in Pennsylvania we are still locked down, but my daughter, Heather, figured if she brought the girls over and let them run in the backyard it would be safe. It was really hard to see them but not touch them.

The girls made me some flowers and Heather, Sarah and Cade bought me a new laptop.

Now was the sad time because they had to leave. It was really hard not being able to hug them all good bye.

Jared showed up right after they left, so he still hasn’t been able to see his sister and her girls. Hopefully, Heather wants the weather to be nice on Saturday so she can see her brother before he goes back to Alaska.

Jared brought me the cutest birdhouse for Mother’s Day. I didn’t expect anything from him because he was doing all the work upstairs to make our master bedroom and library. He was supposed to level the floor but when he got here and looked there was a lot more he had to do first. Now the bathroom is plumbed and the whole thing is wired. He has now leveled the floor and laying the sub floor the next few days. I am so lucky to have such a great carpenter for a son.

My new birdhouse

We ordered in so I wouldn’t have to cook. That was the best present I could do.

I hope you had a wonderful Covid-19 Mother’s Day. Let me know if you did anything fun.

Stay safe out there!

Thanks for stopping bye!

Covid-19 and Easter

I know there are tons of grandparents that didn’t get to spend Easter with their grandchildren. I know some of you have done like my brother and sister in law who delivered things to their grandchildren as they watched from across the road as the children looked at all their goodies.

I took some things over to our granddaughters on Friday and left them on the porch.

This is how we got to do Easter this year with them via photos.

Girls are eating the chocolate sucker that Oma and Grandpa left for them.

We also got to use our Facebook Portal to visit with our grandchildren and children in Gig Harbor, Washington.

It was hard not spending Easter with our family but we all made the best of it. Covid-19 will not beat our family!

Let me know what you did for Easter.

Thanks for stopping by!

Movies

David and I always have enjoyed going to the movies. Now with Covid-19 the movie theaters are closed we have started streaming. Amazon Prime Video is letting you rent or buy theater movies. We were excited about this.

After I rented several movies which you have a month before you start to watch them. Once you have started watching them you have 48 hours to watch all of it.

Every night David and I take turns picking a movie. I picked Downton Abbey. I was not sure if David would like it but he was very impressed. I have enjoyed the TV series.

Downton Abbey is the story of the Crawleys and their staff as they prepared for the royal visit from the King and Queen.

It was superb in every respect. Writing was excellent with great lines from different characters. The costuming and sets were great. You should check out all the hats. The cinematography was excellent. We enjoyed the story and highly recommend this movie.

Watch Us Grow

I was looking at this calendar that my daughter had given me for Christmas this year. It was the year of the twins. It started out in January with a very pregnant daughter and in February the birth. Now 17 months later I can’t believe how they have grown. From being under 3 pounds at birth to over 20 pounds now.

Of course, we think they are the most adorable babies ever. Well I guess we have to call them toddlers now. They are such good little ones. I don’t remember my children being this good when they were little. Can’t say it was because they didn’t have anyone to play with because there was 5 of them. It could be that I am just older and more mellow.

Anyway thanks for taking time to look at our granddaughter’s, Beka and Kate.

3 Barons Renaissance Fair

In June of every year we have a Renaissance Fair here in Anchorage. We enjoy going and spending time with the family there. It is a cheap day out with the tickets $8 for adults and $5 for children which can be bought at the gate or online. It is also educational for adults and children.

David and I did hang out with the pirates a lot due to the fact that they were in the beer garden, besides being fun. There is a lot of singing and storytelling which leads to tons of laughter.

You will receive tokens that you use to vote on which of the Barons you prefer Red, Blue or Green. There are many different shows that you can watch from sword fighting to ….

How about learning about knights? This is very interesting.

Then there is always the throwing of tomatoes at the actors which is always fun. Well maybe not for the actors. To think they wait all year for these 2 weeks to get tomatoes thrown at them. It is a good laugh.

All these people work very hard to make these two weekends fun for everyone while learning something.

We also ran into a friend of ours playing her harp for tuppence.

Even our twin granddaughters had fun!

Now on the other hand our niece and great nephew seemed to have gotten into a little trouble.

After some bargaining we managed to get them released.

At the end of the day it is time to watch the parade of the 3 Barons.

If you would like to learn more about the fair check it out here:

After a fun day at the fair we all headed home.

I hope you enjoyed our fair.
