South African Burgers

On Sunday Cade needed to go to Tracy and Ryan’s to help him with some trees they had fallen. Cade had left him his chainsaw to cut the trees up for firewood. There were a couple that were really big and Ryan couldn’t handle them.

Ryan and Tracy are from South Africa. Of course they have a different way of cooking and seasoning their burgers.

When we first arrived we all hung out to visit a bit and have some chips and dips or were we the dips. Not sure but anyway.

Three States

We did get an early start today. We left the hotel at 8:15. We were out of diapers so David and I took off in search of them. We took the first exit along the freeway and found nothing. Then we couldn’t get back on the road going east. We ended up right back where we had started from.

Keto Day 3

Well sorry but it was Wednesday which means I had the twins.  Katharine is the bigger one and Rebecca is the younger one by 28 minutes.  They were 7 weeks early but only had to stay in the hospital for a month.  Anyway we are quite the proud grandparents.  Of course, we have many others too.  These two are our 11th and 12th.

Hope you enjoyed the photos.

Anyway back to the diet.  As I said earlier I had an early doctor’s appointment.  We did not eat until we got home, so I just made us some protein shakes.  The boys took off to a job and I started getting ready for the twins.

For lunch I had a Skyr, which is Iceland’s idea of yogurt, which is really good.  I had some pork rinds too.  Supper was a hamburger patty with bacon and cheese. Broccoli fried in bacon grease along with more bacon.  It was a nice quick dinner.

I have been staying under on the calories but having a little more trouble with the other things.  I haven’t been getting all the fat that I can have. I have been kind of bouncing back and forth on the protein. I was trying to stay at 25 carbs but I always seem to go over but have managed to stay under the 50 carbs.  I think it is easy trying to keep track of all this.  So far I have been doing fine on the new life style.

Home Again

We made it home in under 7 hours.  I do like flying Icelandair.  We flew economy and still had plenty of leg room.  It was not full, so no one sat in our aisle seat.  We didn’t buy their food because we had leftovers from our stay in the apartment.  We did have to buy one of their beers though because it was a limited edition to celebrate their 737.  It was nice and we kept the cans.

When we arrived back in Anchorage we made it through immigration rather fast because most of the people on the flight were not the US.  Waiting for our luggage took longer than in the regular airport.  In Anchorage we have a smaller building that is used for all international flights.

Then we got to customs where we were asked did we have any wine, sausage or cheese, good thing they didn’t say beer, we answered no and left the building.  Our friend, Judie Wolfe, was there to get us. We stopped by the house and dropped of the luggage and picked up Dusty, our son, to go to Red Robin for a hamburger since it was 4th of July. I was not going to BBQ after that trip.

It was wonderful sleeping in our own bed last night.
