Venice

We caught a boat to Venice where we met up with our local guide at St Mark’s square. We toured the Doge’s Palace which I would have thought was a home but it was where government offices were. We walked across the Bridge of Sighs which was the walk that criminals walked to prison. Venice floods regularly and that is why they have mosaics there.

We had planned to take a gondola ride with a couple of our chorus friends, so when they gave us free time we were off.  They were on lunch break, so we found a place for lunch. It was a great place.  It was behind the opera house, so all the opera singers would come there after an opera.  There were pictures of opera singers all over.  The people at the table next to us were from Bangladesh and it was one of their birthdays.  My small chorus, David, Sherry and Janet along with our waiter sang happy birthday to her which they all were very thankful for.

After a wonderful lunch we were off for our gondola ride.  We were standing in line and met two Russian girls who asked if they could share our boat.  We told them sure.  That made the 80 euro ride not bad at all when split 6 ways.
