Our last day with our kids before we head into Seattle to visit David’s best friend before we head back to York.
Sarah and Steve made it home around 11am.
They made it 13 days without killing each other. Sarah was a little afraid because she said that this is the longest the two of them have ever been alone. I think from the smiles on their faces it was ok.
They were happy to be home.
They met the kids at the bus stop with candy Lei’s. Then home to give them their gifts.
What goofy granddaughters we have.
Willow and Meadow had a concert with the middle school that night and wanted to go dressed like this. Mom had to tell them no.
We all went to their last concert of the year. There were 3 local elementary schools who went to the middle school to sing with their choir.
We stopped at Subway on the way home for dinner. It was a great night and we really loved the kids concert.
We checked out of our hotel in Padua and headed for Milan. We stopped for lunch at the southern end of Lake Garda where we viewed the Alps and the Dolomite Mountains. Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. We had lunch in the historical center of Sirmione at Modi Restaurant. We were all wondering what kind of white meat or chicken it would be this time. To our great surprise it was the most wonderful salmon trout. The restaurant was so nice and breezy sitting outside, instead of hot and stuffy like all the other places.
We kept seeing these huge gelato’s that people were carrying so we went on the hunt for the biggest ones we had ever seen. After wandering around a bit, the chorus went down by the lake and sang the Alaska Flag Song. It was so cool to see all the people gathering around and taking photos of them.
After our tour and all our other fun in Venice the Chorus sang mass at the Basillica. As we stood outside waiting to go in Jonathon had bought a guitar and started playing. The whole chorus started singing Lean On Me. People were stopping to take photos of everyone. It was really fun. The chorus got dressed in the crypt. As David leaned against a wall to put his socks on the wall was crumbling. I was not allowed to take photos in there but I did get a couple and one of the church before I found out there were no photos allowed. David thought the San Marco has to be one of the most spectacular building in the world.
The Anchorage Concert Chorus had a concert in the church of Chiesa di Ognissanti. Another beautiful church. It would have been nice if they had more people there but the ones that were totally enjoyed their concert. It sounded wonderful.
I am having a terrible time with the internet in Italy. I can’t seem to get an photos uploaded. That is why I am not posting every day.
What an honor it was for a chorus from Alaska to get to sing during mass at the Basillica. They sounded so wonderful.
I got to sit in the front pew because I was Catholic. If you weren’t you had to go sit in the chairs in the back as a visitor. I can’t believe that I have now actually received communion at St Peter’s Basillica.
