Camping in Seward, Alaska

We were going to Seward last weekend but it was flooded.  We made it this weekend and I finally got all my photos uploaded.

Friday when we got there it was stormy.

We camped on Resurrection Bay. Continue reading “Camping in Seward, Alaska”

A Day That Won’t Be Forgotten

Saturday, October 20th, was our second anniversary.  David tells me last week, “I have a 3 day weekend. Do you want to go camping for our anniversary? ” I reply, “Hell Yes!”  Please excuse my language but I was that excited.

We usually have snow by now and the camping is over for the year.  The weather has been so nice we decided to head out.  David wanted to talk to a blacksmith in Palmer about a fire tool he wanted him to make.  We found his place but he was gone for the day.  We decided to drive around to look for some place to have a nice dinner on Saturday night. Keto Energy or Excited Energy

I feel like I really did a lot of today. I just seemed to have so much energy. I know I do have more energy, since I started on this life change.
I started the day off checking my email. Then off to clean the bathroom. I got the towels washed, counter, toilet, and tub cleaned. Then I did the floors.

I knew the boys wouldn’t clean it while I am in Gig Harbor, WA taking care of my daughter, Sarah, after her foot surgery.

Flat Ole Hippies Go Camping

Our friends took us camping at Kings River outside of Sutton north of Anchorage, Alaska. We went in their camper.  It was a beautiful weekend. It was sunny but not too hot. We sat by the campfire and went for walks. We enjoyed watching the river.

A good time was had by all.

How Come Relaxing Makes You Tired?

I don’t understand how I can have a relaxing weekend out camping.  I slept great and went for a nice walk. I sat by the campfire and played games at the table.  It was such a nice, quiet weekend.  We got home and the boys helped me unpack the camper which was not hard because I have it set up for the summer now. I came upstairs and sat down to work on my pictures when I fell asleep and didn’t wake up for 4 hours.  By then it was after 8.  We stayed up a while longer then went to bed to read.  That is my excuse for not blogging yesterday.

Today I finally just got the photos done from the camping trip.  Which was on my list, so I checked it off.  I am liking this list thing because I seem to be getting a lot more done.  There are several things I didn’t get done today, so they will move on to tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy the photos of our camping trip to Kings River, Alaska.  We will be going back here in the fall to pick berries. There are lots of 4 wheeler trails if you have one.  People are always out there riding.  There a quiet a few that just come for the day.  This isn’t a regular campground like with outhouses and conveniences. It is just where people have camping for years.  In the fall it isn’t only good for berries, it is also good for hunting. With all the 4 wheeler trails they can get back in there and get a moose.

Of course, my chicken dog, Alice, was with us.  She loves camping.  She will get into the water a little and she loves going on hikes.  One thing she does that I think is funny she always pees in the water. Alice, shocked us when the dogs from another campsite came over to visit and she didn’t run.  She actually let them smell her and she smelt thing.  I believe they became friends.  When Bogart got there, he kept trying to go make friends and we would call him back when he started sneaking off.  He did get away with it a couple of times. Alice would let us know by barking every time he would start working is way out of the camp.  It was pretty funny her telling on him.

Today was my weigh in day.  I lost 1.2lbs. That was good because I think the beers may have been a little over my carb intake should have been.  At least I lost and I still feel good about this diet.  I made us lettuce taco’s tonight and we like it.

Well I am off for today.  Hope everyone has a good night.

Flat Ole Hippies Go to the Kenai Peninsula

We went on another road trip with our friends to Sterling and Soldotna with our friends. DSC_0708

We went to visit their son Jared in Sterling.  Boy does he look like a real mountain man living in the woods with his wife.  They even live in a log cabin.

We got to go to the Kenai River too.  There were people fishing but we didn’t see any fish.

Then we met Brodie who is one of their granddaughters.  She was visiting from Washington with her mom, Tiffany.

Brodie even shared her cotton candy with us.

It was a lot of fun visiting Soldotna and Sterling.  Can’t wait to see where we go next.

Getting Back to Life

Well I guess the vacation or holiday whatever you choose to call it is over now.  We had to start getting back to normal.  Went grocery shopping, since there was not much in the house.  Started washing the clothes from the trip with the help of my sweet husband.  Decided what to cook for supper because the two men here think they should be fed.  Started working on articles for which I have a tons of ideas for many stories.  Starting with the brewery in Girdwood because I told them I would write theirs when I got home.

Dusty got the no running water in the camper problem fixed.  He also figured out why we had no turn signals or brake lights which we found out while camping.  It was a fuse under the hood, so that was an easy fix.

I have got the packages ready to mail outside or the lower 48 other people would say, with things I brought back for my family down there.

Supper is almost done and the boys went to look at a used generator for the camper.  Things are looking good.  Oh damn, I forgot about the laundry again.  Guess I better go get the stuff out of the dryer and put the last load in the dryer.

Well clothes are dry and next load in to dry. Boys came home with generator in hand which David was very happy with.  Supper is going to be served now and we can settle in for the night.  Hopefully, a movie to relax by.
