After we got the girls on the bus to school David and I decided to drive into Purdy and walk along the beach by the bridge.
That’s right the name of the town is Purdy, Washington. My son, Cade, was telling me that when he was looking for a house he saw an ad that said Purdy house. This might be the place I want that must be owned by a hillbilly like with his purdy (pretty) house. Anyway it wasn’t the house for him but if you would like to know more about Purdy check out this link
Heather and Dan bought a hot tub which sits right out our sliding glass door. The other day David and I went out to enjoy it while it was snowing a little bit.
The day started getting the girls dressed in their winter gear. I remember doing this with all my kids. By the time you got number 5 dressed number one was coming back in.
There were quite a few ice sculptures. They were so small compared to the ones in Alaska.
The girls enjoyed looking at the ice sculptures and even got to sit in an Ice throne.
Kate and Bekka loved the huge bubble.
The girls got to meet the local mascots. A Raven and the Abominable Snowman.
The best thing was the 40ft ice slide.
Bekka really enjoyed it so Mommy took her back for another ride while Daddy and Grandpa watched Kate. Mommy had to take her because Daddy barely fit on the slide.
I just had to get a photo of the radio DJ’s coat.
These were painted on a wall. They tell some of the odd history of York. Be sure to read what they say.
It was a small festival but we enjoyed it. I think it had a lot to do with watching the reactions of our granddaughters, Kate and Bekka.
We got our first snow here in York, PA. It snowed about 2 inches and was gone by the afternoon.
It has not been freezing much since we have been here. It has been up to 50 during some of the days. So far a very mild winter compared to what I am use to.
Last Saturday I went to an Iditarod Party that a friend of ours holds every year. He is one of the Trail Guards. They clean out an area for him by the trail. It is a great place to go and watch the dog sleds go by. I took tons of photos and it has taken me a week to get them processed.
I was looking out my window before dawn and noticed a cow moose and her calf in my front yard, so I went downstairs and out in the cold to take a few photos. Continue reading “Shake, Rattle and Roll”
I have been waiting for this storm that was supposed to hit last night. Three inches of snow they said and I am still waiting 24 hours later. We still don’t have any snow and it is warming up. I can say though the sunset was beautiful.
These are all taken off my back deck.
It is 37 degrees, 5:30 at night and dark that is Alaska for you. It is so much warmer than I can remember in a long time.
